California Trip
Well the trip out here to California went pretty good. The plane trips were long and cramped, but that was only 8 or 9 hours…in the end it wasn’t too bad. I arrived at San Francisco International Airport, picked up the rental…and headed to Fairfield. I got to take a little detour down Lombard Street…..that is one crazy road. Imaging driving straight up, then straight down at night, in the rain, in a foreign city. Without a doubt, was the most frazzling road I ever drove on. Then, got on the Bay Bridge and found my way to the hotel. GPS was a godsend.
Work went cool, lots of progress made on the different initiatives. By the end of the trip, we should be up and running, so I can count that as a great success. I also got to meet different team mates from the different aspects of the job. We had dinner and lunch together for the three days they were in town. Lots of new and exotic foods were had by all, that was a great part of the trip.
After Charles went back to DC; me, Laurie and Nam made a trip to San Francisco and ate at the Fisherman’s Wharf. Great meal, I was stuffed. Was so impressed with the city, I actually came back over the weekend. I took a ferry from Vallejo, which went by Alcatraz, and got to see all the sites I missed that night. Went through the Aquarium, the Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Got some good pics (they should be on facebook). Saw a couple of street musicians and artists….even bought a ‘Spray’ painting from someone….was really cool seeing a blank canvas turn into art in minutes.
Chilled at the hotel for most of Sunday, got sucked into the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy which was on TV. Showed up to work Monday, but couldn’t get most of what we needed to get done completed because the snow in VA kept everyone at home. I’ll be heading back to VA on Tuesday, so Laurie should be able to get the office connection issues resolved…she is heading back Wednesday.
All in all, was a pretty good trip….but I miss my honey, and can’t wait to get home. Hopefully the plane rides should go smoothly, but I am a little concerned with flying into and out of PA…the snow there might cause some delays. But, we will cross that bridge when we get there. CA is nice, but I miss my tiny little home town with 6 traffic lights, and can’t wait to get to sleep in my own bed.
