Equality Matters….the first online march for equality.

January 13th, 2009

I’m a little confused with this. I’m baffled with the thinking behind events like this. This election this year is bringing out the worst in me, but I feel I must speak up. This election, in and of itself, was notably leftist. John McCain, while he had my full support, was clearly more middle line than conservative. Obama was definitely much more liberal. Right off the bat, regardless of who won, this country was going to be stepping away from the ‘conservative’ way of life. On November 5th, 2008, when the polls were tallied and presented, I accepted that fact.

Gay marriage is something conservatives generally disagree with. I, myself, disagree with it because ‘marriage’ is a religious term and most if not all religions do not condone those acts. I have absolutely no issue with gay couples getting tax breaks and insurance benefits and such. Those are all civil matters, and have nothing to do with religion. I would go so far as to say the solution ‘COULD’ be, for all civil matters, no one gets married. Instead, a couple (heterosexual or homosexual) can enter into a union. Uncle Sam will take care of everything needed through that union. Every marital benefit a couple has now could be moved to this union. The term Marriage, however, is to remain for religious ceremonies. I got married in 2002, and under this new idea I would have my marriage certificate, signed by my Pastor, and my Certificate of Union, signed by the local justice of the peace. I think that would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people, but both the left and right fanatics wouldn’t support it.

That, however, is where this topic is going. During the week of Obama’s inauguration, there is this event planned that is supposed to make everyone understand Gay Marriage. That’s not going to happen. There is no chance of this event converting the masses to bless gay marriage. It’s going to be a bunch of people who already support gay marriage getting together and causing mayhem. Under the 1st amendment, they have the right to do this, so let them. My confusion, though….the leftist ranks of this country won the election. They got their way, their desires are going to be filled. They have the first black president getting into office. This president is sure to accomplish many liberal causes. Why in the world can the fanatics for this event not wait until he is in office. Why do they have to take away from the ceremony, from the event that is going to change this country forever. Why do these people, with their agenda’s and motives, have to take away from the man they elected? It’s like they aren’t even giving the man a chance.

It just makes no sense to me why a group of people would vote a liberal leader into office, and then detract from their initial staking because a new ’cause’ has popped up. I really think this just goes to show, there is no way to ever make this country happy. No president ever will. It’s a shame, Obama is going to be taking the reigns to this country, and this country doesn’t even respect him enough to honor that.

Gay Rights and Religious Reactions

January 2nd, 2009

Ok….so here is an article:

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20081112/NEWS01/811120369

The basic gist is, during church service one Sunday, a whole slew of gay rights activists stood up, made a ruckis, threw out flyers and such, and generally caused mayhem. Now this was in the middle of CHURCH. I don’t think this can be SPUN in a good way. I don’t think there is a way to justify this. Any takers? Your thoughts, either for or against this action, are welcome.
