Gods place in our world

Ok, by popular request :) …I’m gonna through one real zinger out there. It seams there is this Californian Atheist who is filing a law suit to remove ‘GOD’ from the Presidential Inauguration. Now I am a christian. I have believed in God for as long as I can remember. I believe in the Christmas Story, I believe in Mary and Joseph, in Moses and the disciples. I believe the bible is a great story book and history lesson on life as a human species. I believe what is in the Bible should be taken for gospel.

I also believe EVERYONE has their rights. In the end, it comes down to a person and whatever God there is. Religion is an interesting topic. Not many people know this, but Muslims, Jews and Christians all worship the same God. Allah is the Arabic pronunciation of God. The difference is in the lineages. Jews don’t think Jesus was the son of God, but God was still God. Muslims believe in Allah (God) just like Christians and Jews, but the different there comes from descendants. Muslims base Islam as being descended from Ishmael, son of Abraham. Christians and Jews base their religion on Isac, also a son of Abraham. That point is what causes the disconnect.

But if you turn the way back machine back, all three of the major religions of the world are firmly based on the same God, and relatively speaking, on very similar circumstances. The only other religions that have any MAJOR bearing are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Atheism/Agnosticism.

So, to the point. I personally disagree completely with even fathoming the idea of removing GOD from the inauguration. I believe in God. I believe in a christian God, but I believe it is more a matter of having faith in something, as opposed to having faith in ‘The Christian God’ vice ‘The Muslim God’. I believe this country was founded on such things, and I will live each and every day of my life emulating the God I place my faith in.

The clincher to all this….the Atheist is NOT OK with adding to the speech (honestly, I wouldn’t be happy with it either). He will NOT accept saying something like

And today, under God, ALLAH, Buddha or whatever deity you choose to believe in.

This Atheist will ONLY accept removing ALL connotations of religion from the speech. Now, that will definitely honor his rights NOT TO HEAR A FEW WORDS, but will take away the rights of everyone who chooses to believe.

What do you all think, should God be taken down off the shelf, packaged up in a nice little box, taped shut, and shoved aside like he doesn’t matter? She God be no more, for the good of the country?
